Aussie Land

I haven't written in a while but its partly because my internet that i pay for sucks.
Ive been here for over a week now and have done so many things. My favorites have been going to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary where I got to hold a Koala and feed kangaroos. Ive seen a few waterfalls (excuse the giant picture below i dont know how to make it the right size) and I've celebrated my birthday Australia style.

I started school last Monday and its quite different than what I'm use to. The lectures are different and we do not have homework or assignments, instead we have one midterm and one final. uh oh.

Another thing Im loving is trying all the new food, aka eating a new candy bar every day. Australia has the best chocolate I've had and so many types of candy bars that are soo much better then we have. I've also been on a search for my favorite banana bread because it's a huge staple here.

I've learned a few lessons here, do not order a macchiato, they are over 4.50 and it is a shot of espresso, not what i thought it was and quite pricey for the shot glass size. Also, walking barefoot in shopping malls and stores, and pretty much everywhere else is completely normal. I actually like.

i hope this blog post satisfies you Andrea.

Today two of my friends and I went on a hike in a rainforest. It was my first time ever being in a rainforest, it was absolutely amazing. We were covered by tall tree's the whole time and we hiked along a creek the whole way. There was a lot of moss because it rains often. We reached the waterfall, I dont know how tall it was but it was the largest waterfall I've ever seen in person. The pictures don't do it justice. After our hike we went to a town called Nimban, it is a very small hippy town. interesting would be the word I would choose to describe it. Im not sure what I have planned the next few days but hopefully it will be something exciting!

Ive been in Australia for 4 days now and it is absolutely beautiful! Im staying in a town called Lismore which is about 20 minutes inland. I arrived at 6am on Friday morning and then we had a 3 hour bus ride (which felt longer than the flight) and made it to Lismore around 5pm, we then had 40 minutes to get to town, shop and get back to the last bus of the day. There is a "square" and downtown lismore. the square is a small mall with a few stores, a grocery store, a kmart, and a food court. The next morning one of my local friends to me to breakfast in a cafe downtown. Cafe's are big here and there are tons of coffee shops. I had my first encounter with vegemite and i hope to never see it again. The week is "O" week (orientation week) and school starts next week.
The first beach I went to was Byron Bay, about 30 minutes away. Its a really nice beach town with lots of stores and restaurants. I ordered a Lemonade and I was given Sprite. Apparently lemonade does not exist here.
